Category B courses at STNIG
The training has two parts: theory lessons covering the traffic regulations, and driving lessons with an instructor. They run in parallel, so the course does not drag on. On average it takes four to six weeks, depending on the group you choose and how quickly you pick up driving. The category B licence is issued by the CSDD once you have passed the theory and driving exams. The course suits both first-time learners and people returning after a break.

Category B driving lessons
Driving lessons with an instructor
Driving lessons start while the theory course is still running, so there is nothing to wait for. You agree the times directly with your instructor, around your work or school schedule, and some instructors also drive at weekends. You will practise in Jelgava and the surrounding area, including routes similar to those used in the CSDD exam. The number of lessons differs from person to person: for some the compulsory hours are enough, others need a few more, and that is normal.
Category B instructors
The driving lessons are taught by our instructors. Each instructor page shows the days and hours they work, the car they teach in and their phone number, so you can arrange a time with them directly. When you apply you can name the instructor you would like.
How to get a Category B licence
Apply to the school
Choose a group and apply on the website or by phone. Before the course starts you need a medical certificate, which you can obtain at the school itself.

Theory training
You cover the traffic regulations in class with us or online. This is the longest part of the course.

Driving lessons
You drive with an instructor, starting during the theory course. The lessons continue until you feel confident behind the wheel.

School assessment
Before the CSDD we check what you know at the school. Our job is to get you ready for the CSDD exam, not to add another hurdle, so the school assessment is not overdone.

CSDD exams
First comes the CSDD theory exam, then the driving exam. Once both are passed, the CSDD issues your category B licence.

Category B exams and the CSDD
